Nicolaus Copernicus

About this coin

An artistic composition shows Nicolaus Copernicus, one of the most important figures in the history of astronomy. The scholar's portrait is surrounded by graphic lines, orbits and geometric diagrams referring to observation of the sky and research into the motion of celestial bodies.

Full-colour UV print brings out intense shades of blue, red and deep black. The illustrative style of the portrait combined with astronomical motifs creates a striking composition that joins a historical character with a modern graphic form.

Nicolaus Copernicus is a coin dedicated to the great astronomer – a symbol of curiosity, scientific discovery, the courage to question established beliefs and breakthrough ideas.
